In preparation for this year’s implementation of Project LAWA at BINHI, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga conducted a Barangay and Local Government Unit (BLGU) forum for five implementing municipalities in the province of Surigao del Norte.
Participating in the forum were the municipalities of Malimono, Taganaan, Gigaquit, Mainit, and Del Carmen. Across these areas, a total of 27 barangays will implement Project LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished), an initiative aimed at addressing food and water insecurity in vulnerable communities.
Through this project, the DSWD Field Office Caraga, in partnership with local government units, seeks to strengthen community resilience by promoting sustainable water access, improving local food production, and empowering communities to better withstand the impacts of climate change and other socio-economic challenges.
