
The local government of Trento, under the leadership of Mayor Kristoffer Calvez, expressed its one hundred percent support to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, led by Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga, for the implementation of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) in their locality.
This support was expressed during the project turnover and the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between the two agencies held today, March 6, 2026, which was attended by several municipal officials and SLP personnel.
Regional Director Flo expressed her gratitude for the strong support extended by the local government to DSWD. The official also shared that the agency will continue to strengthen social protection programs to ensure that every Filipino has the opportunity to improve their lives.
“Under the leadership of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr., our government continues to promote inclusive growth, food security, poverty reduction, and the building of stronger communities. Likewise, under the leadership of DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, the Department remains committed to strengthening our social protection programs to ensure that no Filipino is left behind.”
During the activity, 120 Trento residents who are members of four Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs) happily received their livelihood assistance, where the agency formally turned over the management of their livelihood projects.
Each association received Php 600,000.00 to start their respective businesses. The associations that received assistance are the following:
1. Asenso Sigurado Pulang Lupa SLP Association- Eatery and Snack House
2. Malipayong Mag-uuma sa Manat SLP Association – Chicken Egg Production
3. Manat Persons with Disability SLP Association- Oil Palm Handicraft Production
4. Angat Poblacion SLP Association- Mini Wet Market.
It is expected that through these livelihood projects, the members of the associations will further enhance their capacity to manage their businesses, increase their income, and contribute to strengthening the economy of their community.
