In celebration of Women’s Month, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), highlights the initiative of the Siana Golden Mothers Sustainable Livelihood Program Association (SLPA) in Brgy. Siana, Mainit, Surigao del Norte.
Through their self-initiated program, “Buhat sa Kalooy,” members conducted community visits and provided assistance to individuals in need as a way of giving back and expressing gratitude for the support they have received.
Beneficiaries included single parents, newly delivered mothers, and indigent individuals. The association distributed essential items such as rice, eggs, milk, noodles, coffee, sugar, and diapers for both infants and adults.
The Siana Golden Mothers SLPA, composed of women – primarily solo parents, elderly women, and mothers – demonstrates how empowered women can uplift not only their own lives but also their communities. The association is a recipient of assistance under the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) – SLP and continues to operate a general merchandise store alongside cash remittance and photocopying services.
The initiative reflects the spirit of Women’s Month by showcasing women-led efforts in community service and solidarity, while reinforcing the role of SLP in promoting inclusive and sustainable development.
