The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through its partner implementer, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Buenavista, Agusan del Norte, has officially commenced the 20-day implementation of Project LAWA at BINHI.
LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) is carried out in three phases: a 3-day training, followed by 15 days of work, and concluded with a 2-day training. Currently, Buenavista is in the first phase, conducting the 3-day training for 405 partner-beneficiaries across four barangays.
The training in the first phase enables partner beneficiaries to fully understand the importance and objectives of the project, encouraging a sense of ownership and responsibility. It also includes sessions on basic laws such as the Safe Spaces Act and Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, which are essential in promoting awareness, safety, and protection within the community.
Project LAWA at BINHI aims to address pressing issues of food and water insecurity. By implementing the project in disaster-vulnerable areas across the region, the agency continues to empower communities and contribute to hunger alleviation and resilience-building.
