RITAGLENDA, Basilisa, Dinagat Islands — Partner beneficiaries of Project LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) are expanding their livelihood opportunities by venturing into dried tilapia production.
Drawing from their fishponds established under the program from 2024 to 2025, beneficiaries have started processing their harvest into value-added products such as dried tilapia. This initiative aims to increase income and provide families with an additional and more sustainable source of livelihood, especially during periods when fresh yields are limited.
Beyond strengthening food security, the initiative also equips communities with knowledge in food processing and small-scale enterprise development.
Through Project LAWA at BINHI of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, beneficiaries are not only gaining access to sufficient food supply but are also unlocking opportunities to elevate their livelihoods, from basic production to income-generating ventures.
