The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga Tara, Basa! The training focuses on enhancing the competencies of Tutors and YDWs through discussions on key topics, including child development, literacy and reading strategies, facilitation skills, actual teaching demonstrations, and parent engagement. Participants are also engaged in hands-on workshops, simulation exercises, and group discussions to deepen their understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
In parallel with the capability-building activities, profiling and validation efforts are being conducted under the Basta Berepikado, Mabilis ang Serbisyo or BBM Serbisyo initiative to ensure an organized and systematic implementation of the program.
Representatives from TBTP Caraga Regional Program Management Office, SNSU, and the Department of Education (DepEd) – Schools Division Offices of Siargao Island also took part in the activity who served as resource speakers for the sessions.
They presented the Guidebook for Tutors and YDWs, as well as the Workbook for Learners and Parents, highlighting their objectives, target users, and effective utilization during tutorial sessions and “nanay-tatay teacher” sessions, along with strategies for engaging both learners and their parents.
This capability building sessions forms part of the program’s preparation for the actual implementation of tutorial sessions, where student tutors and YDWs will work closely with parents and learners’ beneficiaries of the program.
