The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through its Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP), extended assistance to a beneficiary of Project WE CARE (Weight Efforts on Children in Need for Assistance, Rehabilitation, and Enrichment) from Cagdianao, Province of Dinagat Islands, who recently underwent screening for cleft lip and palate operation at Tebow CURE Children’s Hospital in Davao City.

Project WE CARE forms part of the agency’s continuing efforts to go beyond the standard scope of its programs, ensuring that children in vulnerable situations receive comprehensive care and attention.

The initiative highlights DSWD Caraga’s commitment not only to address nutritional needs but also to respond to urgent health concerns of its beneficiaries.

The upcoming surgery is made possible through the collective support and partnership of DSWD Caraga’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS), the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) of the Province of Dinagat Islands, the Local Government Unit of Cagdianao, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), and Tebow CURE Children’s Hospital.

In an interview, the beneficiary’s mother, Nelyn Caseres, expressed her gratitude:

“Dako kaayo akong pasalamat sa SFP Project WE CARE nga walay undang ang ilang pag-encourage sa akoa ug sa akong anak bisan pa man nag duha-duha ko tungod sa gasto sa operasyon. Dako pud akong pasalamat sa Cagdianao MSWDO, Tebow CURE Children’s Hospital, PDAO, ug AICS gikan sa DSWD Caraga sa tanang assistance nga akong nadawat.”

(I am deeply grateful to the SFP Project WE CARE for their unwavering encouragement to my child and me, even when I had doubts due to the cost of the operation. She also acknowledged the support of program personnel:

The operation is scheduled in the second week of May 2026.
