Tutors and Youth Development Workers (YDWs) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga’s Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program (TBTP) are now equipped and ready to carry out their roles as the capability building activities for the first-ever province-wide replication of the program in the Province of Dinagat Islands formally concluded today, May 21, 2026.

The series of sessions provided the Tutors and YDWs with the necessary knowledge and skills in tutoring strategies, child development, session management, and the implementation guidelines of the program in preparation for the upcoming rollout of the 20-day tutoring sessions in identified elementary schools across the province.

Serving as Resource Persons during the sessions were representatives from the Regional Program Management Office (RPMO) and the National Program Management Office (NPMO), who shared their expertise and guided the participants on the proper implementation of the program.

As part of the activity, profiling and validation of the Tutors and YDWs were also conducted under the Basta Beripikado, Mabilis (BBM) ang Serbisyo program to ensure the completeness and accuracy of participants’ records prior to the implementation of the tutoring sessions.

Participants were also oriented on their responsibilities in facilitating learning sessions for struggling and non-reader elementary learners, while ensuring a safe, engaging, and learner-centered environment throughout the implementation of the program.

The capability building activities also served as an avenue to strengthen collaboration among partner agencies, local government units, and program implementers to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of TBTP in the province.

Following the completion of the training activities, the Tutors and YDWs are set to begin their deployment in their assigned communities and schools as they prepare for their actual immersions and support the overall goals of the program in improving literacy and learning outcomes.
