To ensure that no youth-partner beneficiary is left behind in the implementation of the Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program (TBTP), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga conducted an online capability building sessions for Tutors and Youth Development Workers (YDWs) in the Province of Dinagat Islands on May 28–29, 2026.

The online training was strategically designed to accommodate and train youth-partner beneficiaries who were unable to attend the face-to-face sessions previously conducted across the seven municipalities of the province from May 13 to 22, 2026.

During the two-day activity, participants were oriented on child development, communication and facilitation skills, safeguarding policies, and the proper conduct of program activities and documentation. They were also introduced to the objectives of the Tara, Basa! and their vital role in helping improve the reading proficiency of struggling and non-reader elementary learners.

The online CapBuild Sessions also allowed participants to coordinate with program implementers, ask questions regarding program operations, and prepare for their upcoming deployment and community immersion.

The Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program is one of the flagship initiatives of the DSWD that seeks to address learning gaps among elementary learners while providing short-term employment opportunities to economically disadvantaged college students.
