On June 29, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the DSWD Field Office Caraga, through its Regional Persons Living with HIV (PLHIV) Focal Person, successfully conducted the 1st Semestral Virtual Kumustahan on the PLHIV Program. The activity was attended by representatives from 14 Local Government Units (LGUs), including Municipal Social Welfare and Development Offices (MSWDOs) and other designated LGU representatives.

The virtual meeting served as a platform to strengthen the knowledge and capacity of LGUs by providing a re-orientation on HIV and AIDS, including updates on the current HIV situation and emerging trends. Participants were also briefed on DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2026-009, which outlines the updated roles and responsibilities of Local Government Units in implementing the provisions of the Philippine HIV and AIDS Policy Act of 2018.

The activity highlighted the vital role of LGUs in strengthening local HIV and AIDS responses through effective policy implementation, coordination, advocacy, and service delivery. More importantly, it reaffirmed the commitment of DSWD Field Office Caraga and its partner agencies to equip local stakeholders with the knowledge and tools necessary to combat HIV and AIDS, reduce stigma and discrimination, and ensure responsive and inclusive programs and services for Persons Living with HIV (PLHIVs) and other affected populations.
