Through a virtual Founding Assembly and Strategic Planning Meeting, the Youth Empowered Sector Caraga formally gathered its pioneering members and YOUth representatives to lay the groundwork for what is envisioned to become a strong platform for YOUth leadership and participation across the region.

YES Caraga was established through the initiative of DSWD Caraga with the goal of creating opportunities for YOUth to become active contributors to community development. At a time when YOUth voices continue to seek meaningful spaces for engagement, the organization aims to bridge passion with action by bringing together young leaders, advocates, volunteers, and changemakers under one regional network.

The activity was spearheaded by the Protective Services Division Chief Ma’am Jessie Catherine B. Aranas and the Sectoral Unit Head, Ma’am Melanie G. Juan, facilitated by the DSWD Regional Youth Focal Person Kuya Macky Lagapa, and assisted by Mam KC Alunan, the Regional Focal Person for Women. Their guidance helped steer discussions on the organization’s identity, strategic direction, and priorities as it begins its journey.

Beyond the planning sessions, the gathering highlighted something equally important, the willingness of Kabataang Caraganon from different provinces to work together toward a common purpose. 

A defining moment of the assembly came with the election of the organization’s first regional leaders. Elected as Regional Chairperson was Kuya Kenneth Salinas, while Ate Alexa Basigsig earned the trust of the assembly as Regional Vice Chairperson.

As YES Caraga takes its first steps, it does so with a belief that Kabataang Caraganon are not only the future of society but also important partners in addressing today’s challenges. While the organization is only beginning its story, the enthusiasm shown during its founding assembly suggests that its chapters ahead will be written by YOUth who are ready to lead, serve, and make an impact.

And for YES Caraga, that story starts now.
