BUTUAN CITY– Six (6) sub-projects of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) were recently inaugurated in Cagwait, Surigao del Sur last March 28.
A riverbank protection in Brgy. Mat-e, a concrete drainage canal in Brgy. Poblacion, a bailey bridge in Bitaugan West, one unit two-classroom high school building in Brgy. Bitaugan East, and two (2) barangay health stations in Brgy. La Purisima and Brgy. Tawagan were erected comprising the six prioritized barangays of the municipality.
The total KALAHI-CIDSS grant given to the municipality was Php 4,594,544.68. This grant was allocated for the six barangays who underwent a prioritization of their sub-projects in concurrence to the social service need of their community.
Moreover, a total of Php 1,610,073.00 was delivered by the municipality and the province forming part of the agreed 30 percent cash and in-kind counterpart while at the barangay level, a total of Php 2,456,570.00 was allocated for their sub-projects.
Surigao del Sur provincial governor Johnny T. Pimentel expressed his admiration of the project: “The hard work put here is very evident; we are grateful to KALAHI-CIDSS for their efficient and smooth implementation of their sub-projects. Same goes to our volunteers who have to leave their families to attend trainings and seminars.”
“As leaders in our humble villages, we always strive hard to implement and maintain these sub-projects for we want future generations to make use of them,” responded Poblacion barangay captain Miguelito Climaco.
KALAHI-CIDSS is an anti-poverty program implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). It is one of the government’s programs in attaining the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations in ending poverty through the provision of basic social services.### (Social Marketing Unit)
