BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program will cover the last three local government units (LGUs) in Caraga region by 2012, namely; Nasipit and Magallanes in Agusan del Norte and Bislig City in Surigao del Sur.
With this recent development Caraga DSWD Director Mercedita P. Jabagat led the orientations of local officials conducted in these LGUs in three separate occasions. Bislig City Mayor Librado Navarro, Nasipit Vice Mayor Ronald Timogan and Magallanes Vice Mayor Margarito Auguis together with their respective town officials attended the orientation.
“Nasipit has 2,253 potential beneficiaries, Magallanes with 1,129 and Bislig City 5,689,” said Director Jabagat. Jabagat also turned-over the lists of potential beneficiaries to the LGUs for them to post in a conspicuous place in the barangay for the community folks to see.
Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program is a poverty reduction and social development strategy of the national government that provides conditional cash grants to extremely poor households to improve their health, nutrition and education particularly of children aged 0-14. ### (Social Marketing Unit)
