BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga sent a team who will help conduct the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) sessions with victims of disaster in Region 10 yesterday, December 26, 2011. The team is composed of social workers and psychologist who have been conducting debriefing sessions.
According to Assistant Regional Director Mita Gupana Lim, debriefing is a specific technique designed to assist individuals especially those who experienced trauma during a disaster or critical incident because this allows those involved with the incident to process the event and reflect on its impact. Ideally, debriefing can be conducted on or near the site of the event. “Another component of CISD is defusing, which allows for the ventilation of emotions and thoughts associated with the crisis,” added ARD Lim.
ARD Lim said DSWD Caraga also sent last week relief goods consisting of food and non-food items and noche buena packs worth P4,877,875.28 to Cagayan de Oro City to augment the Field Office 10 in the relief operation.### (Social Marketing Unit)
