“We are very pleased to report that we have successfully completed 53 infrastructure projects in nine (9) areas in the region that are now ready to be used by the communities built through our Kalahi-CIDSS volunteers,” social welfare regional director Dr. Minda B. Brigoli said.
Kalahi-CIDSS or Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services is a community-driven development (CDD) project of the government that aims to empower communities through their enhanced participation in community projects that reduce poverty.
“Since 2003, Kalahi-CIDSS has been providing beneficiary communities venues to exercise their stake in decision-making and giving them a voice to propel themselves towards development through capability-building activities,” Brigoli explained.
Brigoli added that the completion of these facilities will serve as the supply side of the department’s other anti-poverty program, the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.
“The school buildings and day care centers in these areas are now ready for use by students in time for the opening of classes this June,” Brigoli said. ###
