Butuan City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) won in the 7th Inter-Agency/Local Government Unit (LGUs) Stat Quiz in celebration of the 24th National Statistics Month on October 29, 2013 in this city.
This year’s theme is “Statistics that Matter to Every Filipino” National Government Agencies (NGAs), Academe and LGUs in Caraga region joined in the contest.
DSWD representatives Cale Pineda, Regional Associate Statistician and Therese Margarette C. Babanto Regional Field Coordinator won the first place in the said competition.
“Team work and focus is the key why we won in the contest,” Pineda quipped.
“It was a wonderful feeling and unexpected that we won in the competition over 22 teams because we do not have coach and yet we did it to the top,” Babanto added.
DSWD got three thousand pesos (Php 3, 000.00) for the 1st place, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) got two thousand pesos (Php 2, 000.00) for the 2nd place and Technical Education and Skills Authority (TESDA) received one thousand pesos (Php 1, 000.00) for the 3rd place.
The Stat Quiz was hosted by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) in cooperation with the National Statistics Office (NSO) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). ### Social Marketing Unit (Maria Cecilia N. Sosas).
