Butuan City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Caraga has inaugurated today its Learning Commons, a regional learning resource center, located at the third floor of the regional office in R.Palma Street, Butuan City.
Regional Director Minda B.Brigoli said that the Learning Commons is a complementary facility of DSWD Knowledge Exchange Center (KEC).
“This facility offers information and communications technology (ICT)-based operations and processes to effectively and efficiently carry-out activities and services to make DSWD, not just the lead in social protection but also a learning organization as well,” said Brigoli.
The regional Learning Commons (RLC) of DSWD-Caraga offers the experience of a 21st century library.
As a learning center, the RLC missions to lead in promoting knowledge management in social welfare and protection. Furthermore, it aims to provide reliable and updated data, information and facts along social welfare and protection for policy-making, planning, and other purposes.
It is also the vision of DSWD’s RLC to become a globally-competitive hub and central repository of resources on social welfare and protection accessible to its users and empowering stakeholders for stronger collaboration and higher productivity.
The RLC also offers free access to the following facilities: receiving area, reading and research areas, collaborative learning, electronic and information resources, wifi connection, café, roof deck garden, offline access catalogue, LCD screen and projector, Filipiniana, instructional media, interactive media, and books.
