Butuan City – “The database of Listahanan helps us deliver our social protection programs to the deserving poor people in Caraga Region,” says the municipal social welfare and development offices (MSWDOs) Magallanes and Buenavista in the province of Agusan del Norte.
According to MSWDO Estrella Lerion of Magallanes, since the implementation of National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR), their LGU signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to obtain a copy of the database because they believed that the project would be a huge help in alleviating poverty in their locale.
“Mas gihatagan namu og prayoridad ang mga pobre nga anaa sa Listahanan sa paghatud sa among mga programa ug serbisyo (We prioritize the poor households listed in the Listahanan database in delivering our programs and services),” she added.
“With this, it’s now easy for us to address the needs of certain households because the list provides complete details that are very useful for the implementers,” said Lerion.
On the other hand, MSWDO Cecil Bolongon of Buenavista saw the advantages of using the database.
“Nahimong sayon alang kanamu ang pagtunol sa amung mga batakang serbisyo ngadto sa mga pobre tungod kay nahimo namung basehan ang database sa Listahanan (It became easier for us to provide our services to the poor because we used Listahanan database as our basis),” says Bolongon.
The mentioned LGUs are encouraging the National Government Agencies, Non-Government Organization, Civil Society Organizations, and other stakeholders to prioritize the usage of Listahanan database because it aims to uplift the lives of people from poverty.
The Listahanan, is an information management system that identifies who and where the poor nationwide. It provides complete basic information on poor households who will become beneficiaries of the different anti-poverty programs and services.
DSWD-Caraga is now preparing for the regional launch of the updated Listahanan database and Regional Profile of the Poor this coming June 23, 2016 that will be attended by Undersecretary Florita Villar and the Department’s partners in the region. ###(ABEGAIL R.
