Anne Aileen Friaz, resident of Barangay Poblacion, Cagdianao, Province of Dinagat Islands, works incessantly for the completion of their 1 unit, 3- classroom high school building sub-project implemented through Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan –Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) program. She is one of the Procurement Team volunteers of the program and one of the paid laborers of her community’s sub-project.
“Ang akong ganahan gajud sa pagka Kalahi-CIDSS volunteer yaon makatabang ako sa uban pang mga mga bata gawas sa ija kaugalingon (What I like most of being a Kalahi-CIDSS volunteer is that I am able to help other children besides my own),” Anne said.
The community felt the need of an additional school building since there are no more classrooms available to accommodate incoming K-12 or senior high school students in the barangay. They hope that through this sub-project, their children will have classrooms conducive for learning. It will be very expensive on their part to send their children to other barangays or the poblacion, and it will be risky for their kids to travel that is why they unanimously decided to propose the sub-project.###(APRIL MAE N.
