Solving the long-time problem on potable and sustainable water supply in Lungsod Daan, Barangay Poblacion, Tubay, Agusan del Norte, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Caraga through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) inaugurated an 816 L.M Solar Pump Driven Level II Water System last August 31, 2018.
The inauguration was attended by Juvy P.Echavaria, Kalahi-CIDSS Sub-Regional Program Coordinator (SRPC) on Behalf of the Regional Program Management Office (RPMO), Vice Mayor Raquim Cuyos, representing Mayor Fidel Garcia Jr., and Barangay Poblacion local officials.
Echavaria expressed her thanks to the volunteers for finishing the project even though there have been a few bumps along the project’s implementation. She added that the volunteers should ensure that they take care of the their water system and ensure its sustainability since projects with poor operation and maintenance plans do not last long.
The volunteers responded positively to the message and promised to take care of the project as they have worked hard to build it.
Vice-Mayor Cuyos, speaking on behalf of the LGU of Tubay, conveyed his appreciation for the wholehearted devotion of the volunteers to stand for themselves and ensure progress and change in their community.
Lungsod Daan, like other communities, has already been a recipient of a few Kalahi-CIDSS community-empowering sub-projects. They have already completed a senior citizen office, one day care center, and an ongoing construction of a barangay health center, and add tp that the newly-completed Through the coordination of the Municipal and Barangay Local Government Unit (M/BLGU), Area Coordinating Team (ACT), and the community volunteers, the newly launched project, is now functioning to provide potable water to the community. Citizens of the said community continue to hope for more projects and are already preparing their project proposals for the upcoming cycles.

Through the coordination of the Municipal and Barangay Local Government Unit (M/BLGU), Area Coordinating Team (ACT), and the community volunteers, the newly launched project, is now functioning to provide potable water to the community – a project they have longed for.
Kalahi-CIDSS continues to bring hope and empowerment to the municipalities in Caraga utilizing people as the main catalyst for change through the utilization of the Community Driven Development approach in bringing people one step nearer to overcoming poverty.
