BUTUAN CITY-In an effort to reduce inequality and poverty, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Caraga finally obtained the list of poor households from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Caraga through the National Household Targeting Section (NHTS).
The turned-over of Listahanan database was held during the Social Welfare Development (SWD)-Forum cum Knowledge Fair on June 6, 2019 at Almont Hotel Inland Resort, this city.
On his acceptance speech, DTI Regional Director Brielgo O. Pagaran said that the database is important and major step for their department to determine target clientele for the different social protection programs and services.
He also congratulated the department for the noteworthy endeavor and accomplishment for having a comprehensive list of poor households.
The database requested by DTI is the list of poor households engaged in micro-enterprise, list of poor households engaged in farming/fishing, list of poor Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), list of poor unemployed women, youth and senior citizen. These data will greatly facilitate the mapping of priority areas and selection of potential beneficiaries of their program and services.
Prior to the turn-over, NHTS conducted a series of inspection meetings together with the designated Data Protection Officer (DPO) of DTI to ensure that the 2nd party is capable of protecting the data as compliance to RA 10173 or known as the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
Listahanan is an information management system that employs geographic targeting, household assessment, and validation in order to provide national government agencies, development partners, and other social protection actors with information on who and where the poor are in the Philippines. ###(ABEGAIL R.
