The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through the Protective Services Division, distributed assistive devices to two beneficiaries diagnosed with cerebral palsy from Tagana-an, Surigao del Norte as part of the celebration of the National Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection Week from September 16-22, 2020.
A wheelchair and a pair of crutches were handed over to the LGU of Tagana-an who had two recipients for the celebration. The devices were handed over to the representatives of LGU Tagana-an at the border of Alegria, Surigao del Norte and Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte in compliance to the strict health protocols in the province of Surigao del Norte. For this year’s theme, “Ugnayan, Malasakit, at Paglingap sa mga Taong May Cerebral Palsy sa Panahon ng COVID-19 Pandemic”, the DSWD FO Caraga, together with its partner agencies in the Regional Committee on Disability Affairs, is reminding everyone that any form of disability is not a reason for any form of prejudice or discrimination. Rather, people must work together to build a compassionate and caring society.
