The DSWD Field Office Caraga has conducted a 3-day Camp Coordination and Camp Management Training (CCCM) on October 20-22, 2021 at Jabonga, Agusan del Norte.
Through the agency’s Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD), technical staff and resource speakers were augmented in the locality to realize the said training. Participated by 60 participants comprised of barangay officials and other local staff, said event was organized by the local government in the hope of equipping the participants in providing timely and well-coordinated humanitarian assistance and augmentation support in the management of the evacuation centers in the area.
As the vice-chair for disaster response as stipulated in RA 10121, the department currently leads the CCCM cluster alongside with the Food and Non-Food Items (FI/NFI) and Internally-Displaced Persons (IDP) protection. In pursuant to this, conducting training in pushing such advocacy on CCCM realizes the primary goal on capacitating the partner agencies especially the LGUs in the region.
Among the topics highlighted were Information Management in CCCM, IDPs and Protection Services, and Camp Set-up and Closure among others. The event was the 3rd CCCM training conducted this year after the LGUs of Marihatag and San Agustin rolled out in their respective localities in the previous months.
Meanwhile, Mr. Angel Bert A. Casamilio, SWO-III, one of the speakers underscored the importance of understanding their roles as the key actors in CCCM, “Knowing why we are doing this (CCCM) more elevates our understanding of our role in the process, especially on providing the disaster affected individuals a safe, secure, and accessible evacuation centers” Casamilio added.
