ffice Caraga through the initiative of The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) of Agusan del Norte conducted an orientation on RA 8972 or the “Solo Parent’s Welfare Act of 2000” on October 11, 2021 at Brgy. 2, Santiago, Agusan del Norte.

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) provided identified skills trainings for the solo parents who participated in the activity. Moreover, TESDA discussed the processes on how to avail the skills training and solo parents were given the right to decide which skills training they want to avail. Once they have already decided, TESDA will then conduct the said training to the participants.

A series of orientations started last September 22, 2021 at Brgy. Simbalan and Brgy. Olave in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte followed by Brgy. 2 and Brgy. 9 on September 30, 2021, Brgy. Rizal on October 5, 2021, and Brgy. Matabo and neighboring Brgy’s in Agusan del Norte on October 8, 2021.

Barangays mentioned above were selected according to the high-rate data of Solo parents in their community.

This move is in accordance to Republic Act No. 8972, “An act providing for benefits and privileges to solo parents and their children, appropriating funds therefor and for other purposes.”#
