The Sustainable Livelihood Program – Surigao del Norte Provincial Operations Team poses for a photo with the members of the Bunyasan Kalipi Women’s Association after the project turnover.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga handed over livelihood projects to 14 associations in conflict-vulnerable areas in Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Sur, and Surigao del Norte, recently.

The provision of livelihood projects is part of the DSWD Sustainable Livelihood Program’s (SLP) implementation of Executive Order No. 70, series of 2018 that aims to adopt a whole-of-nation approach in achieving inclusive peace, ending armed conflict, and providing opportunities to individuals and families in conflict-afflicted areas to help them attain a peaceful and sustainable life.

Before these projects were turned over, these associations have undergone social preparation to prepare and equip them on how to manage their association and livelihoods. These associations were also given the opportunity to propose their preferred livelihood project to increase their participation in the process.

After the projects have been turned over to the associations, the DSWD-SLP and the local government units will continue to monitor their operations and provide technical assistance if needed. Social Marketing Section/DSWD Field Office Caraga)
