A total of 250 residents on Taganaan and Tubod, Surigao del Norte received the Livelihood Assistance Grant from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga on September 23, 2022.
Through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), each beneficiary received a seed capital fund amounting to Php15,000 which they shall use to set up or re-establish their livelihood activities that were severely affected by the imposition of the community quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Further, Tubod Mayor Richelle Romarate encouraged the recipients of the said livelihood aid to manage their finances wisely to have a successful and sustainable livelihood. She said that the beneficiaries should persevere and seek the technical assistance of the local government unit should they need it.
Three months after the release of grants, the program participants will be closely monitored by the local livelihood technical working group to track the progress they have made.
The provision of livelihood assistance was made possible through the efforts of the DSWD-SLP and the Office of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, with the coordination of the Surigao del Norte Provincial Office and the Local Government Units of Taganaan and Tubod.
DSWD-SLP is set to release livelihood grants to more eligible families in the different towns of Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur in the coming weeks.
