JABONGA – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga handed over livelihood projects to four associations in conflict-vulnerable areas (CVA) in the municipality of Jabonga, Agusan del Norte on October 20, 2022.
The livelihood projects, amounting to Php300,000 each, were funded through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP). Below are the names of the associations and the respective projects they have received:
- Beltran Fishermen Association – Tilapia Culture in Cage
- Baleguian Fisherfolks Association – Tilapia Culture in Cage
- Maraiging Women’s Association – Rice and Agrivet Supply
- Libas Organic Farmers Association – Corn Post-Harvest Facilities
Before the projects were turned over, the associations underwent skills enhancement activities such as bookkeeping and recording, procurement, and liquidation to equip them on how to manage their livelihoods.
After the turnover, the DSWD-SLP and the Local Government Unit of Jabonga will continue to monitor the associations and their livelihood activities. This is to ensure that the associations are provided with guidance and technical assistance.
The provision of livelihood to the CVA associations is part of the Department’s implementation of Executive Order 70, series of 2018, or the “Institutionalizing the Whole-of-Nation Approach in Attaining Inclusive and Sustainable Peace, Creating a National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and Directing the Adoption of a National Peace Framework.” (Social Marketing Section/DSWD Field Office Caraga)
