Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office Caraga together with members of the Regional Gender and Development Council (RGADC) conducted an outreach program at Brgy. Maguinda, Butuan City (March 30, 2023) as one of the activities for the Women’s Month Celebration.

 

The activity was participated by pregnant women, mothers, and teenagers from the said barangay. The Population Commission (PopCom) – as the host agency, led discussions on family planning, birth control, and teenage pregnancy.

Other agencies were also present for the simultaneous distribution of food, sanitary kits, school supplies, and preloved clothes to the participant’s children while the seminar was on going.

The parents we’re also given free medical check-up by the Department of Health Caraga, and vegetable seedlings from the Department of Agriculture.

 

The program was conducted smoothly with the help of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) XIII, National Police Commision (Napolcom), and the Barangay officials who assisted in the outreach activity.

The Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) coordinates gender-related activities in the region and recommends gender-related policies to the Regional Development Council. Their main function is to Mainstream Gender and Development in the policies, programs, projects and activities and ensure maximum and effective coordination of Gender and Development mainstreaming efforts, structural and functional linkages with oversight coordinative bodies. ###(Social Marketing Section/DSWD Field Office Caraga).
