Ms. Diana Lim from the Office of the Civil Defense Caraga expressed support to UN-FAO’s endeavor during the consultation session.

In preparation for the pilot project implementation and area identification for the Building on Social Protection for Anticipatory Action and Response in Emergencies and Disaster (B-SPARED) Project, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, together with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UN-FAO), conducted a consultation meeting on May 3, 2023, at the General Conference Room of the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Caraga, Bancasi, Butuan City.

 

The consultation meeting aims to prepare partner-agencies by providing an orientation on the Anticipatory Action and Adaptive Shock Responsive Social Protection System (AA ASRSP) and the Philippine Roadmap. During the meeting, the UN-FAO and DSWD Cooperation Agreements and Workplan were discussed. Other matters tackled included the Project Development Process and B-SPARED Project Concept Note, Typhoon AA Experiences in Caraga, Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) AA Typhoon Triggers, and FAO’s Cash Transfer Mechanism for the AA ASRSP.

 

The meeting also served as an avenue for gathering relevant inputs and recommendations from the Regional Line Agencies of Caraga for the future Typhoon Anticipatory Action Implementation Plan in the region.

Hosted by UN-FAO, the regional line agencies of Caraga Region are all ears on the consultation meeting.

With representatives from the UN-FAO, DSWD Central Office (CO), Social Technology Bureau, Philippine Red Cross, and Disaster Response Management Bureau (DRMB) as the resource persons, the objectives for the said meeting were met.

 

Attendees of the consultation meeting were the Operations Section personnel of OCD Caraga, DSWD CO, DRMB, DSWD FO Caraga, UN-FAO, Department of Agriculture Caraga, DOST-PAGASA Butuan, PIA Caraga, DILG, DA, DA-ATI and the Provincial Local Government Unit of Surigao del Norte.
