The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office (FO) Caraga took part in the celebration of the World Day Against Child Labor 2023.
As Co-chair of the Regional Council Against Child Labor (RCACL), the Field Office, through the Strategic Help Desks for Information, Education, Livelihood, and Other Developmental Interventions (SHIELD), remains committed to advocating and acting on the plight against child labor.
The SHIELD program identifies child laborers and proceeds to provide them, especially their parents, with holistic and immediate interventions at the community level including the provision of educational assistance from DSWD and case referrals to other government agencies.
On June 12, 2023, the local government units (LGUs) of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, and Surigao del Sur, spearheaded by DOLE, simultaneously celebrated the fight against the global phenomenon.
RCACL distributed goods such as a 5kg sack of rice, school supplies, and packed lunch to the children; moreover, parents who underwent livelihood training from DSWD FO Caraga through SHIELD received livelihood equipment (steamer for kakanin).
With immense gratitude, the Agency lauds the support from partners and stakeholders who continue to act on the cause.
As we celebrate our nation’s independence day, RCACL also continues to work for the freedom of our nation’s children from child labor and instead live, learn, and love as children should.
