In pursuit of serving more Filipino households through capacity-building and provision of thriving livelihoods, the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga held a rollout training on Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 07, series of 2023 or the “Revised Guidelines for the Comprehensive Implementation of the Sustainable Livelihood Program,” to the regional and field program staff at Spacebar Beach Resort, Cagwait in Surigao del Sur on August 29 to September 1, 2023.
MC No. 07, which was made effective on July 4 of this year, covers the five-year Livelihood Sustainability Plan that primarily aims to develop the organizational capacities of the SLP associations to move from an informal community-based body to a formal organization that is stable and independently operated by its members while increasing the sustainability of their chosen livelihood projects.
OIC-Assistant Regional Director for Operations Jean Paul Parajes attended the activity, and he encouraged the staff to embrace this change in the guidelines to provide better service to the communities in need. “This change isn’t a walk in the park, but remember that this will also trigger us to improve more communities and transform more lives.”
The rollout training, led by SLP Regional Program Coordinator Renante Abendanio and some technical staff of the Regional Program Management Office, aims to discuss the program guidelines and clarify staff issues and concerns regarding the implementation.
