DUCK, COVER, HOLD
The Centers and Residential Care Facilities (CRCF) of DSWD Field Office Caraga, namely the Home for Girls (Bonbon, Butuan City) and the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (Patin-ay, Prosperidad, ADN) participated in the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill conduct yesterday, September 7, 2023.
Residents, staff, and even construction workers working on the facilities, performed the DUCK (ducking down to the floor), COVER (taking cover under a sturdy table or desk), and HOLD (holding on until the shaking stops) positions to show their preparedness if ever a quake would hit the area.
The Field Office believes that participating in such activity, especially done regularly, would ensure retention of the knowledge and practices that would ensure the safety of residents/staff during a real earthquake scenario.
Evaluators from DRMD and the Bonbon Barangay Council provided their inputs to the Home For Girls (HFG) residents/staff, while the Bureau of Fire Protection evaluated the simulated drill at the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY). Both Centers were commended for their exemplary performance during the drill, with only minimal areas that needed improvement.
Congratulations to the top Management of DSWD Field Office Caraga, headed by Director Mari-Flor Dollaga, and the Center Heads, Marisa Garay (HFG) and Vilma Bare (RRCY) for the preparations, resulting to the successful participation to the 3rd quarter Simulated Earthquake Drill.
