The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga has delivered a total of 162,977 family food packs (FFPs) to the trough of the low-pressure area (LPA) affected municipalities in Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Sur, and Agusan del Norte.
Here are the number of municipalities that successfully received the relief assistance:
Agusan del Norte: Butuan City (7,512), Las Nieves (1,498);
Agusan del Sur: Bunawan (17,203), Esperanza (14,434), La Paz (9,969), Loreto (2,262), Prosperidad (5,596), Rosario (29,654), San Francisco (4,364), San Luis (11,434), Sta. Josefa (15,645), Talacogon (11,373), Trento (1,319), Veruela (13,974);
Surigao del Sur: Barobo (100), Cagwait (1,096), Cortes (3,500), Hinatuan (431), Lingig (10,603), San Miguel (1,000)
Moreover, on February 6, 2024, FO Caraga, led by Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga, together with DSWD Caraga’s Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) team, Bunawan Mayor Sylvia Elorde, municipal councilors, the barangay captain, and other staff, ventured into the flood-submerged barangay of Bunawan in 5A and 6 of Sitio Jagnaya, Barangay Mambalili, to hand over FFPs directly to those in need of them.
Along with FFP distribution, the team also conducted assessments of the evacuation condition, aiming to gauge the needs of displaced families, allowing for tailored support and interventions. The consolidated assessment result enables the agency to allocate resources efficiently and prioritize support where it is needed the most.
