In observance of World Social Work Day on March 19, 2024, the Association of DSWD Social Workers Inc. (ADSWI) Field Office Caraga commemorated the occasion under the theme of “Buen Vivir: Shared Future for Transformative Change,” aligning with the Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development 2024.

Amid the ever-challenging times, social workers from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga gathered online to reflect and revisit roles within the community and assess collective impact.

Jessie Catherine B. Aranas, President of ADSWI Field Office Caraga and Chief of the Protective Services Division (PSD), underscored the importance of the “4Cs” — Celebrate, Communicate, Compliment, and Complement — as guiding principles for social workers in their daily endeavors.

Aranas emphasized the need to celebrate the invaluable contributions of social workers, likening their role to that of professions essential for societal cohesion. She stressed the significance of efficient peer communication to facilitate mutual learning and growth. Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of complimenting fellow social workers to acknowledge their dedication and efforts in making the world a better place. Lastly, Aranas emphasized the necessity of complementing one another, recognizing that collective efforts are essential in achieving common goals and delivering services to the community.

The commemoration of World Social Work Day served as a reminder of the vital role social workers play in effecting positive change and fostering inclusive societies. As they continue to navigate through challenges, DSWD Caraga social workers remain committed to the mission of serving and uplifting the most vulnerable members of society.
