The Department of Social and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga conducted the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) payout in collaboration with the local government units (LGU) of Agusan del Sur (ADS) on March 7-9, 2024.

 

The provision of ECT aims to ensure that affected families have the means to meet their essential needs and rebuild their homes.

 

9,225 eligible beneficiaries from the municipalities of; San Luis (4,307), Veruela (167), Bunawan (2,970), Trento (1,302), La Paz (361), Bayugan (15), and Prosperidad (103) each received Php5,004.00. It can be recalled that at the height of the weather disturbances brought about by the low-pressure area in February this year that brought flooding to the said municipalities, FO Caraga provided immediate assistance through family food packs (FFPs), which totaled 86,979 FFPs for ADS.

“Daghan kaayong salamat sa DSWD dakong tabang sa amo ang gihatag nga ayuda labina sa amua nga naguba ang balay tungod sa baha. Ipaayo nako among balay, kusina, bungbong, banggera, ug pangpalit na pod og pagkaon (I am grateful to DSWD for the assistance. It provides crucial support to those of us whose homes have been ravaged by the flood. With it, I plan to restore my house, including the kitchen, walls, and sink, as well as purchase essential food supplies),” Dante Calderon from Barangay Doña Flavia, San Luis, Agusan del Sur thanked DSWD for the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) he received.

Dante, an ECT-eligible beneficiary, is among those whose homes were submerged in the flood. He expresses profound gratitude for the assistance, particularly as he is in a recovery phase after experiencing a heat stroke.

 

As Agusan del Sur’s flood-affected families continue to rebuild and recover, DSWD Field Office Caraga remains committed to ensuring that no one is left behind during untoward circumstances like flooding.
