The team trekked to verify the project site’s suitability.

A joint project site validation of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga and the identified local government units (LGUs) of Surigao del Sur for the implementation of Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished, dubbed ‘Project LAWA at BINHI’, was held on March 14, 2024.

The site validation aims to identify target areas where the project interventions will have the most significant impact. Factors validated are the availability of water, agricultural potential, and socio-economic indicators, of which the team seeks to tailor the project implementation to the specific needs and circumstances of the community.

Project LAWA at BINHI is a proactive intervention under the Risk Resiliency Program through Cash for Training and Work (RRP-CFTW) that seeks to combat hunger, alleviate poverty, and decrease the economic vulnerability of communities by addressing food and water insecurity brought by disasters and climate change.

Other area in Surigao del Sur verified by the team.

On March 11-15, 2024, the team validated identified areas in the LGUs of Barobo, Lingig, Hinatuan, Lanuza, and Bayabas, Surigao del Sur.

DSWD FO Caraga remains dedicated to ensuring that the project interventions will be effectively implemented, empowering communities.
