Social workers of the Association of DSWD Social Workers, Incorporated (ADSWI) – DSWD Field Office Caraga, celebrated its ADSWI-LEBRATION 2024, April 15, at Pavillion at the Watergate, Butuan City.
A highlight of the event was the Knowledge Sharing sessions, where Atty. Joseph J.M. Malelang, the DSWD Caraga Legal Officer III and ADSWI Caraga ADSWI-Lebration Guest Speaker, delved into his expertise and discussed his published book, “The World Of Social Work and the Philippine Courts: A Casebook.” This session provided invaluable insights into the intersection of social work and legal systems, offering participants a deeper understanding of their role in the judicial context.
Adding to the richness of the event, ADSWI Caraga President Jessie Catherine B. Aranas updated the attendees on the progress of the Magna Carta for Social Workers. Her presentation highlighted the ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare and professional standing of social workers in the country, emphasizing the association’s commitment to advocacy and legislative action.
In a heartwarming gesture of community engagement, ADSWI Caraga also turned over movie ticket passes for the residents of Home For Girls. This initiative aimed to offer these children a unique experience and a sense of normalcy by enjoying a day at the theatre, reflecting the association’s dedication to enriching the lives of those they serve.
The ADSWI-LEBRATION 2024 served as the association’s post-Social Work Month celebration and stands as an annual forum for registered DSWD Caraga social workers. This event not only fosters professional development and collaboration but also celebrates the significant contributions of social workers to society. As the ADSWI continues to champion the causes of social workers and those they help, events like these serve as a powerful reminder of the impact of collective effort and compassion in driving social change.
