The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, serving as the chair of the Regional Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (RIACAT-VAWC), inaugurated the National Anti-Trafficking in Persons Awareness Month and the World Day Against Trafficking through an online Zoom Conference held on July 3, 2024.
The event included an orientation on the MaKaBata Helpline, which plays a crucial role in the ongoing efforts of duty bearers in bolstering the protection of vulnerable sectors, particularly children and minors, against trafficking in persons. The MaKaBata Helpline serves as a vital platform for addressing and preventing instances of trafficking, ensuring the safety and well-being of children and minors in the region.
The conference aimed to raise awareness and mobilize support for anti-trafficking initiatives, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts in combatting this grave violation of human rights. With the commitment of various agencies and organizations, the fight against trafficking in persons continues to be a top priority, guided by a collective determination to safeguard the rights of all individuals, particularly the most vulnerable in our communities.
