In continuing the move towards combating human trafficking and violence against women and children, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga has taken the lead in steering the Regional Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking – Violence Against Women and their Children (RIACAT-VAWC).
The council recently convened to formulate an Operational Plan and conduct a Midyear Assessment, marking significant progress in regional efforts to address the aforementioned critical issues — July 16-17, 2024 in Tandag City.
The collaborative effort involved key stakeholders and members of the council underscoring a unified approach. This is done through intensive deliberations and strategic planning sessions among RIACAT-VAWC members.
Operational Plan crafted by the RIACAT-VAWC not only outlines actionable steps for intervention and protection but also aligns with international standards such as the Tier 1 status in the US Trafficking in Persons Report, which recognizes countries actively working to combat human trafficking.
DSWD Field Office Caraga is at the helm of these crucial endeavors, ensuring that RIACAT-VAWC will be brought together to make further strides in the fight against trafficking and violence and ensure a safe society for each community member.
