In a proactive move towards disaster resilience, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), turned over the Building on Social Protection for Anticipatory Action and Response in Emergencies and Disasters (B-SPARED) project was recently held, marking a significant step in disaster preparedness for the municipality of Bacuag, Surigao del Norte, on July 30, 2024.

During the activity, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) provided essential tools to farmers and fisherfolk to help protect their livestock and livelihood in the event of disaster.

“Our sincere appreciation goes to the Local Government Unit of Bacuag for your outstanding efforts and warm welcome throughout this project implementation. We’ve recognized Bacuag as one of the most supportive municipalities, and your commitment has not gone unnoticed. We look forward to your continued support for the upcoming activities related to the B-SPARED implementation,” said Aldie Mae A. Andoy, DRMD Chief.

The B-SPARED project seeks to prepare communities ahead of disasters through multiple-purpose cash and livelihood protection, targeting poor and vulnerable households, and is piloted in the municipality of Bacuag.
