The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga and Caraga State University (CSU) solidified their collaboration to further intensify the implementation of the programs and services of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) through the signing of Memorandum of Agreement on August 9, 2024, at Dotties Place Hotel, Butuan City.
The partnership is branded as PAGLAHUTAY, or Poverty Alleviation, Genuine services towards Lasting Human Transformation and sustainable Yield, centered on co-implementing the programs and services of SLP. The ultimate goal of PAGLAHUTAY is to reduce poverty by actively engaging in the exploration, transmission, and advancement of knowledge and capacity-building enhancement for qualified SLP beneficiaries and staff.
CSU, under its Extension Services Office, shall constitute capacity-building training on community organizing and leadership, capacity-building training on research, data-gathering and management, project development, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.
DSWD Assistant Regional Director for Operations (ARDO) Jean Paul Parajes, elucidated the importance of the partnership to SLP’s initiatives.
“This newly formed union will surely play a crucial role in accomplishing the program’s objectives. CSU’s proficiency in training, research, and community involvement harmonizes with our diligence and endeavor to uplift the socio-economic status of Caraganons,” said ARDO Parajes.
This collaboration signifies the undying efforts of DSWD and CSU to promote welfare and alleviate the lives of the poor, underserved, and those who are at the margins of society.
