The Department of Social Work and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Service (KALAHI – CIDSS) Program, successfully turned over 14 sub-projects worth Php5,800,000 to 14 barangays of Cagdianao, Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI), on August 13-16, 2024.
 

The turnover ceremonies were attended by KALAHI-CIDSS Regional Program Coordinator Raffy Vigil, together with Cagdianao Municipal Local Government Officials (MLGU), and Community Members.

These sub-projects include repair and construction of community service infrastructures, installation of solar-powered streetlights, installation of information and communication radio system, and improvement of barangay health station. These community sub-projects are funded by the KALAHI-CIDSS program in partnership with the MLGU and other stakeholders.

 

The completed sub-projects were completed under the National Community-Driven Development Program (NCDDP) modality of the program, which aims to empower barangays/communities of targeted municipalities through improved access to services and through participation in more inclusive local planning, and implementation.

 

The MLGU and the community members expressed gratitude to DSWD Field Office Caraga for the services they have extended to their community through the KALAHI-CIDSS Program. The sub-projects are now ready to be enjoyed by the residents of their respective barangays which is expected to benefit the community and reduce overall poverty. As of 2020, Cagdianao is a 3rd class municipality with a population of 18,350. The Program hopes that the said sub-projects would benefit the majority of the populace.

 

KALAHI – CIDSS embraces the Community Driven Development (CDD) approach, where people are not mere beneficiaries but stakeholders who are actively integrated into decision-making, project development, implementation, and management.
