As the new partnership emerges, some key officials and personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga and the Caraga State University (CSU) convened for the School of Leadership and Project Management (SLPM) module 1 training of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) on August 6 to 9, 2024, at Dotties Place Hotel, Butuan City.

The said training aims to further hone the technical skills of SLP Staff and beneficiaries, particularly in proposal making, financial literacy, and project innovation.

The personnel from CSU Extension Services Office served as resource speakers for the said learning session. It is part of their commitment to the partnership to co-implement the programs of SLP by actively engaging in the exploration, transmission and advancement of knowledge, and capacity building for qualified SLP staff and beneficiaries.

“In Caraga State University, we do plenty of things like project development, technology business incubation, design thinking, and product innovation; and also, the list of researchers around us will certainly bring considerable support to your initiatives,” CSU President Dr. Rolyn Daguil said during his inspirational message.

Theresa Roa, the SLP Provincial Partnership Officer for Surigao Del Sur Cluster 2, cited the impact of the training to the field staff of the program, which is now more interactive with the beneficiaries.

“The training in feasibility studies, market and demand analysis, proposal making, chart of accounts, and financial literacy has significantly enhanced my strategic planning and financial management skills, enabling me to contribute more effectively to the province’s development initiatives and goals,” Roa remarked.

She also expressed her appreciation to the Regional Program Management Office (RPMO) for conducting such activity.

“I feel fortunate and grateful for the RMPO’s efforts to further enhance the skills necessary for our functions. This is very beneficial to us,” she added.

SLPM module 1 marks the beginning of a new collaboration that will set out to amplify the delivery of SLP’s programs services. This newly formed union has been formalized through the signing of Memorandum of Agreement.
