In a significant boost to a sustainable development, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) recently conducted a ceremonial check turnover of project funds amounting to PhP 1,800,000.00 to three SLP Associations (SLPAs) in Madrid, Surigao del Sur.

The Panayogon SLPA ventures in community enterprises, Quirino Women’s SLPA which is an agricultural association focusing in chicken-egg production, and Patong Patong Maabtikon SLPA who produces eco-friendly bricks made of recycled materials, all received PhP 600,000.00 apiece.

Madrid Mayor Juan Paolo Lopez lead the ceremony, together with DSWD personnel and some key officials of the Municipality. Also present in the activity were the barangay captains of Brgy. Panayogon, Quirino, and Patong Patong.

“These projects are not just about providing financial assistance; they are about investing in the future of our communities. By supporting these associations, we are helping to create sustainable livelihoods that will benefit generations to come,” Mayor Lopez underscored during his opening message.

The turnover ceremony marks a crucial step in the ongoing collaboration between the DSWD and the local government unit of Madrid with both entities committed to uplifting the socio-economic status of the municipality’s residents through sustainable and inclusive development programs.
