The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, as the chair of the Regional Inter-Agency Committee on Senior Citizens (RIAC-SC), actively participated in the Kick-Off Celebration of Filipino Elderly Week 2024 in Butuan City – October 1, 2024.
Protective Services Division (PSD) Chief Jessie Catherine Aranas, on behalf of the Field Office, delivered a message of support and highlighted the agency’s commitment to implementing programs and services to uplift senior citizens’ lives, particularly those in vulnerable situations. Among the key programs mentioned were the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens Program and the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), pivotal in addressing the needs of elderly Filipinos who require financial assistance and immediate relief.
Moreover, the members of RIAC-SC, the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC), and the Local Government Unit (LGU) Butuan City Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) joined together to bring services for the elderly all in one venue at the SM City Butuan’s Events Center – October 2, 2024.
The Field Office expresses gratitude to RIAC-SC, the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC), and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Butuan City for the collaborative efforts in making the celebration activities possible and most importantly, creating a caring environment for the elderly.
The Agency, in coordination with local agencies, reaffirms its commitment to prioritizing the welfare of senior citizens and ensuring efficient and effective implementation of assistance programs.
