IT’S AN ORANGE MONDAY!
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, as Chair of the Regional Inter-Agency Committee Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (RIACAT-VAWC), marks the start of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) by wearing orange, November 25, 2024.
This campaign underscores the Philippine government’s commitment to protect women’s and girls’ rights and eliminate all forms of gender-based violence, as mandated by Republic Act 10398, which declares November 25 as the National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of VAWC.
With the theme “UNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines” and the 2024 sub-theme “VAW Bigyang Wakas, Ngayon na ang Oras!”, the campaign highlights the urgency of ending VAW, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Anti-VAWC Act of 2004 (RA 9262).
Activities include the Orange Help Desk offering free legal counseling and the Sinina Ko, Pagbuot Ko Exhibit 3.0, happening at SM Cinema Lobby from December 2 to 6, 2024.
As a lead agency for social welfare and development, DSWD Field Office Caraga reinforces its commitment to creating safe spaces for vulnerable sectors through programs like the Recovery and Reintegration Program for Trafficked Persons (RRPTP), in collaboration with the Department of Justice and other partners. This program provides comprehensive support to ensure the recovery and reintegration of trafficking survivors.
Let’s unite for a VAW-free Philippines—now is the time!
