Some of the F/NFI provided to the fire-affected students.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga augmented food and non-food items (F/NFI) to Caraga State University (CSU) students and families who lost their homes in a fire that broke out at 3 AM on November 19, 2024 in Ampayon, Butuan City.

CSU students actively assisted in unloading food and non-food items to support their fellow students who lost their homes in the fire.

In the incident, a total of 129 families were reported to be affected, 112 of which were CSU students and 17 residents.

 

The Department, distributed a total of 645 family food packs (FFPs), with each family receiving 5 packs. Additionally, hygiene kits, kitchen kits, sleeping kits, family kits, and 20 modular tents were provided to serve as temporary shelters for displaced students and families.

 

Moreover, Field Office Caraga worked closely with the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) to ensure a comprehensive response.

The aftermath of the fire showcased extensive devastation, leaving boarding houses and residential homes destroyed and reduced to ashes.
