Engr. Irish Flor Yaranon, Chief Administrative Officer of NRLMB, provided the City Government of Butuan with updates on the progress of establishing the MDRC in the city.

On-Site Assessment and Stakeholders’ Meeting in the Establishment of the Mindanao Disaster Resource Center (MDRC) in Butuan City

The activity, facilitated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, brings together the DSWD Central Office, the National Resource and Logistics Management Bureau (NRLMB), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the City Government of Butuan.

The World Food Programme (WFP), represented by Engr. Muhammed Fajarin, a WFP engineer based in Rome, Italy, and Noel Santos, the Supply Chain Officer in Manila, highlighted their collaborative role with the DSWD in the establishment of the MDRC.

In the meeting, DSWD shared the progress toward building the MDRC in Barangay Pinamanculan, Butuan City, a facility designed to strengthen disaster preparedness and support rapid response across Mindanao.

As the establishment of the MDRC moved closer to reality, the assessment team took the opportunity to visit the location, check its accessibility to key services like roads, utilities, and emergency responders, and inspect the overall suitability of the area.

The MDRC, to be established in Butuan City, aims to serve as a strategic hub for disaster resource management, ensuring the swift and efficient delivery of aid during emergencies across Mindanao.

The team visited Barangay Pinamanculan, Butuan City, to assess progress and gather insights for the MDRC project.
