The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office (FO) Caraga, as the chair of the Regional Committee for the Welfare of Children (RCWC), along with the members of the committee, celebrated the culmination of the 32nd National Children’s Month Celebration on November 19, 2024, at The Pavilion, Almont Inland Resort, Butuan City.
During the event, the RCWC recognized the top-performing Local Government Units (LGUs) in Caraga, represented by their Local Chief Executives (LCEs), along with individuals and groups from various government agencies and the private sector. The RCWC also presented the prestigious Makabatang Modelo Partner Award to members and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to promoting child welfare and rights.
Moreover, this year’s guest speaker, Atty. Aurora Luanne Cembrano-Ramos, OIC Regional Director of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Caraga, highlighted the importance of accountability among duty bearers, the need for opportunities for children to participate in conversations that impact them, and the significant role that each individual plays in shaping the future of the next generation.
“Kung mayroon tayong Build Build Build Program for infrastructure, mayroon din tayong Build Build Build to create a safe and healthy environment for our children so that we can usher a golden era for a strong, independent, and empowered Caraganons,” Atty. Ramos emphasized.
Furthermore in his closing remarks, Assistant Regional Director for Administration (ARDA) Dir. Tristan Telen congratulated the RCWC and all the awardees. He stated, “The recognitions awarded today go beyond mere accolades; they are passionate calls to action that stir our hearts, urging us to rise to the challenge. Let them inspire us to forge even stronger partnerships, advocate with unwavering resolve, and create environments where every child is cherished and safe—where their laughter drowns out the echoes of fear and their hopes soar without limit.”
The celebration is held in line with Republic Act 10661, or the National Children’s Month Act of 2015, which designates November as National Children’s Month. This annual observance is led by the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the National Youth Commission (NYC).
Although the 32nd National Children’s Month celebration officially concluded with this event, the commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of every child remains unwavering. The journey to create a society that upholds children’s rights and nurtures their potential continues to move forward.
