The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) association and individual participants from the municipalities of Barobo and Tagbina, Surigao del Sur, have recently been awarded grants worth Php 7,845,000.00 through check turnover and Zero Hunger Payout, which will be accounted for the capital of their projects.

The turnover served some 12 SLPAs, six each from the respective towns and both having one Conflict Vulnerable Area (CVA) association apiece. On the other hand, the payout benefited 63 individual program participants who received Php 15,000, respectively. This will allow them to secure funds to support their livelihood projects and other ventures.

“We will thrive more to ensure the prosperity of our projects. This major addition to our assets motivates us to deliver a more efficient and sustainable livelihood,” said Bengmert Cañal, program participant.

Moreover, Barobo Mayor Joey Pama further emphasized and commended the dedication of SLP personnel to provide the underprivileged families with access to sustainable livelihood opportunities.

“Seeing the constituents of this town be provided with assistance demonstrates your diligence and genuine intentions to promote sustainable living in our community. I admire your hard work and continuous efforts to deliver services to the people of Barobo,” remarked Hon. Pama.

This significant provision of assistance shows the diverse classifications of participants and services vital to uplift the socioeconomic condition of the community. CVA associations are those SLPAs situated in areas with peace and order concerns, while Zero Hunger is one of the program’s modalities, which promotes food security through sustainable livelihood.
